Here's a look at my resume as of Junior year:
GPA - 3.765
SAT (expected score) - 1800-2000
2 or 3 AP courses per year/the rest are advanced classes
E.C.s - Student Council (Representative, Class President, Student Body Secretary), Key Club (3 yrs.), Student Recruiting Club (3 yrs.), Debate (2 yrs.), school Newspaper (Editor) (3 yrs.), Basketball Team (1 yr.), Catholic Teen Retreat (Director) (3 yrs.), Church Youth Group, 200+ service hours and I was an intern for 3 months in the courtroom of a federal judge.
I will be a 1st generation Black college student. I am planning on majoring in either liberal arts or communications. Not really sure.
Please offer some safety, target and reach colleges in TX or VA that I could apply to with my credentials. Large or small doesn't matter. Any college that's academically excellent and supports well-rounded students is great.
I also would LOVE to go to Yale. But that's probably not gonna happen. But it doesn't mean I can't try. Thanks.
What colleges should I apply to next year?
You have a very good chance at pretty much anywhere...you should apply to Yale, even though it's a reach. Anyway.
Virginia:
--Targets: U Richmond; Washington %26amp; Lee.
--Reaches: UVA, William %26amp; Mary.
--Safeties: Lynchburg, George Mason...pretty much anywhere else
Texas
--Reach: Rice.
--Target: Texas A%26amp;M
--Safeties: U Dallas, U Houston
You also might want to look at Amherst...I think you would like it.
Reply:Impressive resume, sweetie-
I would just make a list of states that you wouldn't mind living in....then, research colleges there, look at the different majors. If you are not sure on major, go to the library and check out a book dedicated to finding a college major, there are tons of them there. Texas does have a slew of institutions. But I would choose at least 10 colleges and apply for scholarships to give you more competition.
And don't put yourself down with Yale. Yale is a great school and you should also put that on your list. We need more brothers at Yale, Get started now....I wish you nothing but the very best and success on your academic career!

Reply:You think you're pretty awesome, don't you?
Reply:Can't help with the college, but with your credentials why choose such generic majors...unless it is just to start until you decide later on. Those majors are too broad, and it is more difficult to find a decent job once you graduate.
Reply:Aim high! It sounds like you have done well. I am not familiar with that area, but I would check out princeton review or college board .com. they are very helpful. Good luck!
Reply:Penn State
